The original plan - Tran to Rupert, Ferry to Skidegate, a week and a bit of biking and camping before some boat trips into Gwaii Hanaas and the West Coast...

A bulged disc in Marieka's back meant that this wasn't a good way to go. We talked and it looked like biking or camping would be possible, but not both, an the hammering of power boats over waves would be a better way to cause permanent injury, so in no way a good idea.
So, we cancelled the boat trip and began looking into how to make it work.
We looked at what accommodations were available, reasonable distances for daily biking, and the possibility of renting a camper van to get out to the West Coast still.
As a total cost of over $700 (plus gas) for a couple of days, the camper van was a bit rich for the van life, and pretty much everywhere we could book had a minimum 2-3 days' stay, so we pieced it together and found out trip.
We're off on the start of a new adventure - a bicycle tour of Haida Gwaii. The plan is simple:
* Bike to the train station on the morning of July 1st
* Take the train to Prince Rupert with our bikes and touring gear
* Stay overnight in Prince Rupert
* Bike to the ferry and take the ferry to Haida Gwaii
* Bike tour Haida Gwaii over the next few weeks
* Return to Prince Rupert on the overnight ferry, sleeping in a berth, as opposed to on the floor of the main cabin
* Catch the train back to Prince George
* Bike home and take a weekend to settle back into life in Prince George
